About BASIS Independent Brooklyn

BASIS Independent Brooklyn, located in the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, opened its doors in fall of 2014 as part of the bicoastal inaugural year of BASIS Independent Schools. More than doubling its enrollment for its second year of operation, the school represents the diverse tapestry of booming Brooklyn. Located in a 100,000 square foot purpose-built modular construction, the preschool–grade 12 school draws students interested in an accelerated liberal arts, STEM-focused curriculum from all over New York City.

2018 Admissions

Application Fee $75
Admissions Deadlines Fall 2018 families will have the option of two different admission cycles, Early and Regular Admissions. Early Admissions has an earlier notification and commitment date. Please note that an application is deemed complete when all supplementary materials are received and required meetings are attended.

Early Admissions:

  • Deadline to Submit Application: November 17, 2017
  • Deadline to Complete Application: December 6, 2017
  • Notification Date: December 13, 2017

Regular Admissions:

  • Deadline to Submit Application: January 24, 2018
  • Deadline to Complete Application: February 7, 2018
  • Notification Date: February 14, 2018
Admission Requirements For PreK-1 and 2: Application, Family Meeting, Group Playdate
For grades K–1: Application, Group Playdate, and Family Meeting. Transcripts and Teacher Recommendations (grade 1 only).
Grades 2–10: Application, Transcripts, Teacher Recommendations (Math and English), Entrance Exam, and Family Meeting.

Enrollment Deposit $3,000
Required Fees Textbooks: $400-600
Tech & Design Fee: $200
Tuition Refund Plan (TRP): 3% of Annual Tuition less deposit (optional if tuition paid in one payment)
