Week 4 - Time for the Interviews
March 22, 2025
Hi and welcome back to my Week 4 blog post! This week was definitely my favorite so far because it was all about the interviews!
I was honestly a little nervous, so I spent the first two days of the week doing interview prep. I started off by going over the notes I took last week when I was scrolling through the websites and FaceBook pages of the units I wanted to highlight, just to refresh my memory of what they do so I wasn’t going in blind. Then I finalized the interview questions and went over a few words I didn’t know how to say in Malayalam. Just for a little extra preparation, I also watched a few videos and read some articles on how to conduct a solid interview.
Once I felt fully prepared and comfortable, I met with Teacher Jasica to finalize the interview questions. After I got the green light, I contacted three women in the different Kudumbashree units to confirm our interview dates, and then it was finally time!
I completed three interviews this week (one of them was technically my backup, so there’s a chance I might squeeze in one more next week just to be safe), and each one was incredible. Hearing their stories firsthand made everything I’ve been researching feel more real and personal. It’s one thing to read about the impact of Kudumbashree, but it’s another to hear a woman tell you how Kudumbashree changed her life. I listened back to the recordings, picked out some quotes, and noted the moments that stood out to me. I’m so excited to include these powerful stories in my final project.
That’s it for this week! I’m really happy with how the interviews went, and I can’t wait to start piecing everything together. Thank you for reading and see you soon!
