Who Knew Notating Would Be This Hard

Welcome back to my blog! This week, we will talk about the other two songs that we have been arranging for the past couple of weeks. Let’s get started!
Isn’t It Lovely?
For the past couple of weeks, we have been arranging the bass of the song “lovely” by Billie Eilish and Khalid. This song was pretty easy to arrange, and there weren’t that many issues when it came to arranging it. However, the majority of it is pretty repetitive, which made it rather tedious to write out all of the notation for it. However, in the end, it turned out nice to listen to. Here it is (recorded on my phone again)!

Majority of the recording is rather bland, but what can you expect from the bass of a song where the melody is the most important part. However, there were some troubles that we faced when we tried to write out the notation for it.
Maybe It’s Not So Lovely…
Some of the problems that we faced while arranging the bass of “lovely” would be the different layering that is within the song. There are different layers to the different notes in the bass, and it is important that we capture that exact feeling of the song within our arrangement. We eventually found out how to do layering within the song through a series of button clicks, but the notation is pretty horrible to look at which we will try to fix later.
The red part above showcases a different layer within the bass of the song.
Arranging “Closer” (The Nightmare Song):
This song is extremely annoying to arrange because of the various layers that are within the song. As mentioned prior, layering was relatively annoying for us to notate, and resulted in ugly looking music sheets.
For this song, there is a lot more of that notation! Right now, the song is currently going through some adjustments, so the recording would be horrendous to listen to if you guys listened to the whole song. However, we have a little bit of the beginning that we can show you with some of the melody and vocals (as notes).
Use Up/Down Arrow Keys To Increase Or Decrease Volume.
The layering in the beginning was extremely hard to differentiate. We couldn’t tell what was in one layer versus another, so that took a lot of our time to figure out and jot down. We will try to fix up the rest of it (because right now it doesn’t sound correct and like the song), and hopefully we can show off the rest of the recording next week.
So What’s Next?:
After we finish arranging the songs, we are going to start playing them! We are currently behind in our arranging (as there were some issues that we overlooked), but we are on track to finish all of them this week and start playing them.
That’s all for this week, and I hope you stick around to see us finish the songs and play them.
See you next week!
