Ms. Perleberg joins us after a career teaching in Arizona before moving up to the Pacific Northwest. As a Math Subject Expert Teacher at BASIS Independent Bothell, Ms. Perleberg is dedicated to fostering both academic excellence and collaboration among students and fellow educators alike. “I continuously aim to be a resource and mentor to other educators while furthering my own understanding and expertise,” she says. “There’s never a limit to what one can learn from others.”

Drawn to BASIS Independent Bothell for its high standards and strong sense of accountability, Ms. Perleberg finds fulfillment in working with students who take pride in their learning. “It is my belief that we are not just preparing our students for tests or entrance exams – I wish for all my students to consider how academic material is relevant and constructive to their lives and interests.”

One of her favorite annual projects is the “five-minute city” activity, where students design and construct scale models of miniature cities. By applying their knowledge of area, perimeter, and volume, students not only sharpen their geometry skills but also creatively address the needs of a functioning community.

Outside the classroom, Ms. Perleberg enjoys watching films and documentaries, immersing herself in story-driven video games, and channeling that inspiration into her creative writing. A fan of all things nerdy, she also enjoys chess, Dungeons and Dragons, and other imaginative pursuits.
