Middle School, High School

Mr. Osborn holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry with a minor in Writing from Montana State University. He also holds a Teaching Certificate with a Chemistry Endorsement from Western Washington University. As a Subject Expert Teacher for Biology, Mr. Osborn’s goal is to give students the kind of biology education he always wished for when he was in school. He believes that it’s never too early to start learning how the world works, and that a strong foundation in the fundamentals of biology sets students up for future success.‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‌

Mr. Osborn chose BASIS Independent Schools because of their deep, immersive approach to science education. He appreciates the rigorous curriculum and the school community’s shared passion for learning. He strives to discover what makes his students curious and uses that curiosity to guide learning. By putting students in the shoes of the researchers who shaped our scientific understanding, he helps them build meaningful, lasting connections with the material.

Mr. Osborn believes students learn best when they can visualize and recreate scientific models. Just like real researchers, students benefit from using graphs, charts, and diagrams to make complex concepts more accessible.

One of Mr. Osborn’s favorite classroom activities was a day-long CSI-style investigation. Students analyzed a crime scene, collected fingerprints, ran gel electrophoresis and ELISA experiments, and even interviewed suspects, complete with Mr. Osborn performing different character voices!

When he’s not teaching, Mr. Osborn enjoys playing guitar, card games, and cross-country skiing. A fun fact about him: he recently played Rapunzel’s Prince in a summer production of Into the Woods.
