Sports & Athletics
Home of the Mountaineers
BASIS Independent Bellevue is committed to building a comprehensive sports & athletics program ranging from interscholastic, competitive team sports to individual, movement-based after school activities. Our approach to athletics promotes healthy competition and empowers students with the discipline, grit, and persistence to become leaders on and off the court. It’s the mastery of these skills that has led many of our student-athletes to victory in a variety of competitions, large and small. We are as proud of our students as athletes as we are of them as scholars. Go, Mountaineers!

Our Mascot
The Mountaineers
Selected by Our Founding Team
When BASIS Independent Bellevue was established, our founding administrative team selected the Mountaineer to reflect both the spirit of the Pacific Northwest and the culture we hoped to build together. Climbing a mountain takes hard work, perseverance, and a willingness to keep moving forward—even when the path gets challenging. We value these qualities deeply in our students and our community. We believe that meaningful accomplishments are built through effort, resilience, and a commitment to reaching new heights.
But being a successful Mountaineer is never a solo journey. Behind every climb is a team of people offering encouragement, guidance, and support. That idea resonated deeply with us: We achieve more when we lift one another up.
