The School
BASIS Independent Fremont is where curiosity becomes confidence and capability.
With the creativity and character that students develop, there’s no limit to what they can become. We believe in the power of authentic learning that connects classroom concepts to real-world applications. Inspired by enthusiastic teachers, our students grow through engaging, hands-on experiences that infuse their learning with discovery and delight.
A culture of excellence thrives in a warm, welcoming, and genuine community—a place where every child and every family belongs. Our two Fremont campuses, located five minutes apart by car, provide learning environments designed for each stage of a student’s journey. Our Lower School (Transitional Kindergarten–Grade 5) offers young learners abundant opportunities to explore: specialized classrooms for early learning, science, and engineering; dedicated spaces for music and other arts; a full gym; and a substantial outdoor play area. As students grow in independence, their learning environment grows with them. Our nine-acre Mission Boulevard Upper School (Grades 6–12) campus offers specialized academic spaces, generous performance spaces, athletic fields and courts, and outdoor areas for dining and gathering.

Fremont Lower School Values: STINGER
As active participants in shaping our community, our students collaborated with teachers and staff to develop shared Fremont Lower School values during our founding year. Born from our legacy of academic excellence, these values shape students’ learning and hold our students and leadership accountable to high standards. Taking a cue from our school mascot, the Bumblebee, we created these community values:

Safe
The safety of our students, faculty, and staff is of the utmost importance. We want to ensure that each student feels welcomed here as well as encouraged to take part in the vibrancy of our campus and that they will be safe and supported while doing so.
Trustworthy
We expect our students to show integrity and stay accountable for their actions as well as for their education.
Industrious
Learning is hard work, but we want our students to know that if they put in the time and always try their absolute best, each one has the ability to achieve whatever they put their minds to.
Noble
We teach our students to think about the greater good of the community. In upholding a sense of nobility, students learn to be upright citizens and, subsequently, active participants in spreading goodness.
Gritty
Facing challenges and making mistakes is part of learning. We want our students to know how to push forward in the face of these challenges and to not feel defined by them.
Empathetic
We are all in this together. It is imperative to be a kind friend, to listen, and to try to understand others’ perspectives.
Respectful
Above all else, we want our students to show respect to themselves, to others, to places, to things, and to their surroundings.
