Mr. Joey joined BASIS Independent Fremont Lower in 2023, teaching Physical Education as a Subject Expert Teacher. In addition to his role on the Lower School campus, he also coaches the middle and high school basketball teams at BASIS Independent Fremont Upper School. In 2025, Mr. Joey stepped into the role of Grade 4 Learning Expert Teacher. Having already built strong connections with many BASIS Independent Fremont students and families, he looks forward to deepening those relationships within his grade 4 classroom. His teaching philosophy centers around helping students discover that they can accomplish anything they put their minds to—and building the confidence they need to pursue their goals.

Mr. Joey is also currently pursuing his MBA at Ohlone College. He is eager to continue fostering meaningful connections with students and families as they work together to support each student’s growth and success.
