Ms. Sagal
Latin & History
Middle School, High School
Ms. Sagal joined the founding faculty at BASIS Independent Fremont as the Latin and Classics Subject Expert Teacher. In 2014, she graduated from Oberlin College with her B.A. in Greek Language and Literature and Latin Language and Literature with Honors. From there, she studied for her Master's in Classics at Tufts University, while also working towards a teaching licensure. During her time at BASIS Independent Fremont, she has taught Latin courses in grades 5 to 8, developed and taught curriculum for World History I and II, and created a Linguistics Capstone for seniors.
Ms. Sagal is excited to teach at BASIS Independent Fremont “because the rigorous curriculum encourages students to think beyond memorizing words on a page.” She believes that students reach true learning when they are allowed to process and solve problems in a safe environment. Ms. Sagal wants to give students the analytical skills, writing skills, and knowledge to solve puzzles they’ll face both inside and outside of school.
When she is not teaching, Ms. Sagal enjoys reading mystery and fantasy novels with a cup of coffee, birdwatching at her local park, and playing with her cats.
