- BASIS Independent Advisor: Ms. Covert
Non-native plants deeply harm our ecosystems, and they are readily found at nurseries and stores without designation. At the same time, many people are unaware about the beautiful, eco-friendly native plants that flourish in their local ecosystem, like Fremont’s city parks. To help remediate this problem that the City of Fremont needs solved, my senior project will create a native plant map of Sabercat Historical Park, a popular greenspace. Through GoogleMyMaps, I’ll precisely map out and pin native plants of importance, providing descriptions, details and pictures about the plant, and resources on where individuals can purchase this plant. Alongside showcasing native plants, I’ll pin common, harmful invasive plants, so people can conserve invasive plants. Through accessible QR code on park signage to access my map, my project will educate the citizenry of Fremont to conserve our ecosystem one plant at a time.
