Parent Community
Building Our Community Together
We believe the best learning environment flourishes when families get involved and collaborate with educators to shape the school community together. From the outset, parents are invited to participate and contribute to the fabric of school life, ensuring that every student and every family feels welcome and belongs. We offer many ways to engage, and what matters above all is the spirit of collaboration—ongoing family-educator partnerships rooted in mutual respect, trust, and a commitment to every student’s growth. At BASIS Independent Silicon Valley, because of our unique model, we do not fundraise or ask families to make donations as a regular part of participating in our school community. This deliberate approach keeps parent involvement refreshingly uncomplicated and strengthens the integrity of the relationship between families and the school.
Get Involved
Parent Ambassadors
Parent Ambassadors offer support by welcoming, connecting with, and advising new and prospective families by sharing their own experiences, as well as participating in open houses and other school events.
Parent Committees
Parent Committees allow families to work together and collaborate with other parents and school staff to support the school community. Committees help plan faculty and staff appreciation activities and partner with the school for special events and celebrations such as Diwali and Lunar New Year throughout the year.
Events
Should they choose, parents can lend a hand at signature school events, activities, sports games, and field trips throughout the year: musicals and drama performances, athletic events, Link’s Pumpkin Games, Math Festival, Science Fair, Family Science and Fun Nights, Grade 5 Goodbye, and cultural celebrations for Diwali and Lunar New Year.
Event programming for parents includes coffee sessions with school leadership to stay informed and connected, share feedback, and shape school priorities and decision-making.
Extracurriculars and Student Projects
Upper School parents are welcome to serve as club advisors for student-led extracurricular activities. They also offer students support with Senior Projects and AP Research Projects by sharing relevant professional knowledge, experience, and expertise; serving as a mentor or resource; and helping students connect their academic work to experiences beyond the classroom.
