Welcome to BASIS Independent Silicon Valley!
At BASIS Independent Silicon Valley, we believe students are capable of more than they often realize. Our academic program provides the challenge and foundation they need to grow into confident, independent thinkers. In an environment that encourages questions, intellectual risk-taking, and learning through experience, students develop skills and habits that serve them well beyond the classroom.
Our program extends beyond academics. With more than 130 clubs and athletic offerings, students have opportunities to explore their interests, discover new passions, and build confidence outside the classroom.
Although we operate across two campuses, we are one Bobcat community. We work together to support students throughout their journey from Lower to Upper School and invite you to experience what it means to be A School for Fearless Thinkers.

The School
BASIS Independent Silicon Valley is where curiosity becomes confidence and capability.
With the creativity and character that students develop, there’s no limit to what they can become. We believe in the power of authentic learning that connects classroom concepts to real-world applications. Inspired by enthusiastic teachers, our students grow through engaging, hands-on experiences that infuse their learning with discovery and delight.
We believe that a culture of excellence can and does thrive in a warm, welcoming, and genuine community—a place where every child and every family belongs. Our Sunnyvale Lower School (Transitional Kindergarten–Grade 5) provides young learners with plentiful outdoor fields and courts for play, games, and athletics, all in the heart of Silicon Valley. At our San Jose Upper School (Grades 6–12), students learn in an environment that reflects the innovative spirit of the area. Nine dedicated science labs, a spacious gym and cafeteria, and ample outdoor areas give students room to explore new interests, experiment with ideas, discover passions, and grow beyond academics.

Silicon Valley Upper School
Our Values: ROARS
Inspired by our bobcat mascot, Rufus, and their unmistakable roar, our students, families, and educators came together to define the values that shape who we are and the community we want to be: ROARS—Respect • Optimism • Acceptance • Responsibility • School Spirit. A reflection of the spirit, strength, and character we want every community member to embody, ROARS is a shared promise for how we show up, support one another, embrace challenges, and make our community stronger.
