Mr. Reeves earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Science Teacher Preparation from San Jose State University. Currently, Mr. Reeves is a grade 7 World History Subject Expert Teacher and high school cross-country coach at BASIS Independent Silicon Valley. Mr. Reeves chose BASIS Independent Schools because he wanted to join a community that genuinely supports student enrichment. From everything he has heard and seen, the BASIS Independent community is incredibly supportive, and the students truly feel cared for. His teaching philosophy centers on the belief that every student has the potential to become a critical-thinking global citizen who can use their social science skills to make a positive impact. He believes that education is a lifelong journey and strives to make learning in his classroom enjoyable.

Mr. Reeves believes that students learn best when they are genuinely passionate about what they are studying. There is no substitute for authentic curiosity and enthusiasm, so he works to make his classroom a place where both are nurtured. To keep his students engaged, Mr. Reeves frequently uses class discussions, think-pair-share activities, and game-based presentations. He also loves incorporating gallery walks and similar activities that get students up and moving.

When he is not in the classroom, Mr. Reeves loves to run. You might spot him running around various locations in the Bay Area. Although his most competitive days are behind him, he still races about once a month and is training for his first marathon this December.
