Biology

High School

Dr. Allendoerfer earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Princeton University magna cum laude and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. She then received a PhD in Neuroscience from Stanford University. She also completed a Teaching Certificate program at the MIT Center for Teaching and Learning. Her goal is to teach engaging and educational hands-on science lessons, with an emphasis on biology and the brain. She is excited about the emphasis on STEM education at BASIS Independent Silicon Valley, the close-knit, personal atmosphere of the school, and the diverse student body and faculty. She believes “that students of all ages learn best through an approach that emphasizes student explorations, engagement, and inquiry.” In her free time, Dr. Allendoerfer plays the violin and viola in local community orchestras. She performed her first solo concerto in 2018! She enjoys spending time with her husband and their two teenage children.‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‌
