Ms. Muruganantham
Physics & Engineering
Middle School
Ms. Muruganantham earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics and a Master of Computer Applications from Madurai Kamaraj University.
She is currently a Physics Subject Expert Teacher at BASIS Independent Silicon Valley. Her goal as an educator is to help students explore the relevance of physics in everyday life through hands-on experiments, real-world applications, and interactive activities. She is committed to creating a safe and judgment-free classroom environment where both content and the learning process itself are valued.
She chose BASIS Independent Schools because of their strong commitment to student-centered learning and emphasis on STEM education. The focus on hands-on, inquiry-based learning in science and math aligns closely with her teaching philosophy, and she values the opportunity to contribute to student growth while also growing professionally as part of an innovative, collaborative team.
Her teaching philosophy is inspired by A. P. J. Abdul Kalam’s words: “The purpose of education is to make good human beings with skill and expertise… Enlightened human beings can be created by teachers.” She believes that students learn best when they are actively engaged, feel safe to take risks, and see real-world relevance in their studies. Middle schoolers, in particular, thrive with hands-on, inquiry-driven lessons that meet individual learning styles and foster confidence through a supportive and inclusive environment.
To maximize student engagement, she uses activities such as Think-Pair-Share, quick demonstrations or experiments, and interactive games and quizzes. One of her favorite lessons involved a hands-on activity about speed and distance, where students rolled toy cars down ramps, measured distances, and calculated speed. The excitement and teamwork deepened their understanding of physics concepts while sparking lively discussions about variables and accuracy.
Outside the classroom, Ms. Muruganantham is a passionate classical Bharatanatyam dancer. She teaches dance for cultural events and has expanded her creativity into producing musical dance videos, where she choreographs, designs costumes, films, and edits audiovisual content. Dancing brings her joy, and she loves sharing it with her community.
