Ms. Kolb has served the BASIS Independent Silicon Valley community since 2016, first as Head of Operations and now as Head of School for the Upper School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Columbia College before serving as an officer in the United States Navy. As one of the school's early leaders, Ms. Kolb has had the privilege of helping shape the Upper School and the traditions that define the Bobcat community. She believes that an outstanding education is about more than academic achievement; it is about helping students develop confidence, resilience, responsibility, and a lifelong love of learning. While high expectations and strong academic outcomes are important, Ms. Kolb also believes that students need opportunities to explore their interests, build meaningful relationships, and create memories through athletics, clubs, service, leadership opportunities, and the many experiences that happen beyond the classroom. She is passionate about creating a school environment where students feel known, supported, and excited to be part of a community.

Outside of school, Ms. Kolb enjoys spending time with her family. She can often be found cheering on her son at the hockey rink, spending time outdoors with her daughter, or enjoying a good book.
