Teaching, for her, is a process of learning from students, colleagues, and parents. She aims to bring a positive attitude, open mind, and high expectations into the classroom each day. Her teaching style incorporates small-group and one-on-one instruction, promoting a safe and positive learning environment. She strives to provide high-quality, individualized instruction to meet the unique needs of each student. Ms. Subbaiyan believes that students learn best when they engage actively in their education—talking about what they are learning, writing about it, relating it to past experiences, and applying it to their daily lives. To maximize student engagement, she uses activities such as asking open-ended questions, soliciting students' prior knowledge on topics, incorporating discussion time into activities, and having students model and explain concepts to their peers. One of her favorite classroom activities is conducting small-group quizzes. She splits the class into groups, encouraging collaborative problem-solving and awarding points for correct solutions and explanations. This activity helps check students' individual understanding of the problems.

Outside the classroom, Ms. Subbaiyan enjoys reading Tamil novels, which enhance her creativity and curiosity. She also loves trying different foods and hiking.
