Mr. Joseph has been in education for more than 10 years. He holds a B.S. in Economics and a B.S. in Business Administration from Oglethorpe University as well as a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction for Mathematics from The University of Texas at Arlington. In addition to his degrees, Mr. Joseph received his American Montessori Society certifications and credentials from The Institute for Advanced Montessori Studies in Silver Spring, MD, with a particular emphasis on Elementary I and Elementary II education for children ages 6-12. After teaching at two other independent schools in Maryland and Virginia, Mr. Joseph was attracted to BASIS Independent McLean because of the autonomy allowed teachers to be themselves in the classroom combined with the vigorous academic curriculum: “I love every minute that I am teaching, learning, exploring, and discussing with each and every student both in the classroom and the environment around us.” During all four years at Oglethorpe, Mr. Joseph was on the varsity baseball team and is still an avid player. When he’s not in the classroom, he can often be found on a baseball field or at a Nationals or Capitals game.
