Mr. Haines is entering his third year at BASIS Independent McLean. This year, he is teaching AP United States History, Capstone: Historical Leadership, and the newly offered AP Art History. Before joining BASIS, he taught modern world history, writing, and leadership at Oak Hill Academy. While at the University of Richmond, his academic work focused primarily on twentieth-century American, British, and Japanese history, with additional interests in postcolonial and environmental history, genocide, and the histories of race, gender, and identity.
