Week 6: Update
April 14, 2023
Guys, Over the past week, I’ve made significant progress in various aspects of the project, which I will highlight below:
- I Have Been Actively Reviewing The Existing Literature. I Focused Especially On The Xinrujia School Of Confucianism In China, Reading Through Works Primarily By Taisu Zhang. I Have Identified Several Key Themes And Arguments, Which Will Further Expand The Analysis Structure. I Have Also Identified Gaps In The Literature, Which I Plan To Address In The Research. One Challenge That I Currently Face Is Combining Political Economy Theories With A Historian’s Analysis. They Seem To Be Discussing The Same Matter, And It Is Sometimes Hard To Distinguish The Theoretical Nuance Of Some Political Economy Analyses.
- I’ve Been Trying To College More Data. This Includes Data On GDP, Trade, Investment, And Other Economic Indicators. I Am Also Gathering Data On The Policies And Institutions That Confucian Values Have Influenced.
- I Have Also Started Analyzing The Data Collected To Identify Patterns And Trends. Specifically, I Am Examining The Relationship Between Confucian Values And Economic Outcomes, Such As Economic Growth, Inequality, And Innovation. I Am Primarily Working On East Asian Countries.
I will see you next week, L.
