Week 0: Introduction
March 18, 2026
Greetings and welcome to my senior project blog. My name is Dana Binkevich and I have been at BASIS Independent Brooklyn for 7 years now. Since the 6th grade, one of my favorite classes has always been history, which led me to the topic of my project. I am excited to have this opportunity to explore the success of the resistance and intelligence networks of Britain and former Czechoslovakia during World War II. Since my youth, my dad has taken me to military museums all over the world from the Intrepid here in New York to the Churchill War Rooms in London. These experiences instilled in me a great interest in the covert aspects of the military. Throughout my senior project I will be looking at the secret communication networks, geography-based understanding, and state of mind that shaped the way that the aforementioned resistance groups succeeded. By studying these elements of warfare, my project aims to explore patterns of effectiveness that are not solely based on military prowess. By the end of my project, I will have delivered a research paper highlighting what I discovered about the success of these networks. If you wish to learn more about my project, please read my senior project proposal.
