Week 10: Book Reviews and APs

Splendid development in terms of internship- I get to write a book review for the quarterly issue of Inside Academe! On Tuesday, I was given a free (signed!) copy of Richard Haass’ Bill of Obligations: The Ten Habits of Good Citizens. I only had three days to get the review finished, but I was able to finish the book that night, leaving two days to write and proof the review before it was due to the editor. At the same time, I was juggling my APs, which ended up being down to the wire. This was, of course, due to no fault of my own, as I did absolutely zero procrastinating whatsoever. My AP art portfolio was due Thursday, so I had to call out of my internship to spend the day in Ms Rowland’s room hastily painting Bill Knott poems, Moby Dick, and June Jordan poems. And then, the next Monday, I had my Calculus BC exam. Given that all BC content is taught in Trimester 3 and seniors don’t attend classes for Trimester C, I found myself in the lovely predicament where I had to self-study the entirety of the BC content in the span of two days. Over that weekend, I reached a level of productivity hitherto undreamt of, and ended up getting a 5 on both AP practice exams I took. On Monday, I took the exam, and it went fairly well.

However, all that studying definitely ate up a lot of the time I had planned on using to work on my research paper. This week, I didn’t make much progress. However, with my last AP over, I’ll be able to devote the entirety of Week 11 to finally compiling all my analysis and chaotic notes into a coherent research paper! Wish me luck!
