Mr. Rappelfeld received his bachelor’s degree from Binghamton University in 1999, majoring in philosophy, politics, and law with a minor in anthropology. One of his most rewarding academic and personal experiences was studying abroad in the Czech Republic at the University of Economics in Prague. For more than 20 years, Mr. Rappelfeld has taught world history, AP Psychology, AP European History, and economics at schools in New York, Connecticut, and Maryland. Over the course of his career, he has taught AP Psychology in all three states and is excited to teach the course again at BASIS Independent Brooklyn.

Mr. Rappelfeld joined BASIS Independent Brooklyn in 2018, where he teaches Grade 7 World History and AP Psychology. In both courses, he strives to help students develop a deeper understanding of the world around them while challenging them to think critically, make meaningful connections, and achieve their best.

Mr. Rappelfeld also serves as a co-advisor for the National Junior Honor Society and as a Senior Project advisor. Outside of the classroom, he performs as a singer-songwriter in the New York metropolitan area and enjoys spending time in Prospect Park with his wife and daughter, who attends the BASIS Independent Brooklyn Lower School.
