Ms. Reilly is an Early Learning Teacher at BASIS Independent Brooklyn for our PreK-1 BASIS Independent Bear Cubs! Originating from Rockland County and born into a family of educators, Ms. Reilly always aspired to move to New York City to pursue a teaching career. This aspiration became a reality after she completed her studies at Binghamton University, earning a bachelor's degree in Human Development. In 2017, Ms. Reilly became a part of the BASIS Independent Brooklyn team, initially joining as a teaching fellow in Ms. Moon’s PreK-2 class, Calcium. During her time in PreK-2, she fell in love with teaching children during their Early Childhood years. The following year, in 2018, she found her home in the PreK-1 classroom dedicated to our littlest Bear Cubs, where she enjoys educating the youngest members of our school community. Since then, she has obtained a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Hunter College and New York State Teaching Certification. Before starting her teaching career, Ms. Reilly had experience with children of all ages while working in a daycare, serving as a nanny, and teaching children to swim, dance, and learn gymnastics. Although Ms. Reilly cherishes children of various age groups, her heart lies with her own students, who share her perspective of the world as a place brimming with “magic, love, music, and happiness.” Her foremost objective is to establish a nurturing atmosphere in which her students feel encouraged and safe to fall in love with learning.
