Mr. Franco is a Music Subject Expert Teacher at BASIS Independent Brooklyn's Lower School. He graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Performance with a minor in Hispanic Studies. He went on to complete his Master of Music in Trumpet Performance at the Manhattan School of Music in 2025. While at Carnegie Mellon, Mr. Franco was awarded the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, which supported his study of music performance and ethnomusicology in Barcelona, Spain. He was also honored as a Fifth Year Scholar, which gave him the funding to build a non-profit focused on performance, teaching, and community engagement. Through this work, he realized his calling to teach music and perform for younger students.
As an educator, Mr. Franco believes that music should inspire curiosity, confidence, and creativity in every child. His goal is to help students not only develop musical skills but also learn how music connects cultures, communities, and personal expression.
Mr. Franco chose BASIS Independent Brooklyn because of the school’s dedication to nurturing the arts alongside academic excellence. He is excited to share his passion for music with students in a community that values both creativity and discipline.
Outside of school, Mr. Franco enjoys composing, performing, salsa dancing, cooking, and spending time outdoors
