Ms. Olender brings her expertise in advanced mathematics to BASIS Independent Brooklyn as a Subject Expert Teacher for AP Calculus AB and Capstone Differential Equations. Before joining the school, she served as a mathematics professor teaching collegiate-level math in San Diego from 2018. Her professional experience also includes working at a naval base in Point Loma, San Diego (formerly SPAWAR), where she completed her thesis project developing a precision timing device for military applications. Ms. Olender earned her master's degree in applied mathematics from San Diego State University, specializing in Nonlinear Dynamical Systems and Chaos. She was drawn to BASIS Independent Schools by its emphasis on teacher autonomy, academic excellence, and innovative instruction. She especially values the close-knit community at BASIS Independent Brooklyn, where she has the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with students and support their growth both academically and personally.
