Mrs. Love-Mateo is the Dean of Students for Grades 3–5 at BASIS Independent Brooklyn’s Upper School campus. She first joined the faculty four years ago as a Learning Expert Teacher and continues to support students, teachers, and families through her leadership role. Ms. Love-Mateo earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama with a minor in Child & Family Development from the University of Georgia. After graduating, Mrs. Love-Mateo worked in the Southeastern film, TV, and commercial market before relocating to New York City. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Childhood Education at Hunter College. "Mrs. Love" as her students call her, was drawn to BASIS Independent Brooklyn to learn and contribute to innovative teaching methods and best practices that make the school a uniquely enriching and academically competitive environment. Outside of school, she enjoys watching documentary series, attending on- and off-Broadway productions, and exploring museums and photography galleries throughout the city with her husband, a photographer whose passion has deepened her own appreciation for visual storytelling.‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‌
