What a week of Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations ac What a week of Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations across campus! On Monday, PreK students molded colorful Play-Doh moon cakes after a parent read a Moon Festival story to our youngest Cubs. Ms. Li shared photos of her Gr. 1 students posing with their "moon cake" crafts after working on art work featuring Chinese characters to tell the story of the Moon Festival, and Ms. Tang's Gr. 3 students became cultural ambassadors, sharing their festival research in group presentations that resulted in lovely posters now proudly displayed at our Upper School.

Over the Moon! The moon cake theme sparked more artwork in Gr. 5 Bridge Mandarin with Ms. Liu and culinary creations throughout the school—even our high schoolers got involved with their own moon cake celebration with Ms. Corio and special Capstone Chinese Literature and Culture presentations, according to Mr. Chen.

Today, we celebrate a milestone. ALL of our senior Today, we celebrate a milestone. ALL of our seniors who graduated in June 2025 were recognized as AP Scholars or higher, and nearly 70% of our high school overall received the honors. To provide some context, nationwide only about 10% of students earn the distinction of AP Scholar or higher by the time they graduate (based on historic data provided by the College Board).

With an average AP score of 3.94 (with a score of 3 to pass and 5 as the highest score possible) and a passing rate of 94%, our high school students at BASIS Independent Brooklyn have set the bar high. We admire their dedication and hard work resulting in exceptional academic outcomes. Also join us in celebrating their amazing teachers and supportive families for nurturing such talented students.

We could not be prouder. Read more in our blog (See link in bio).
