Weeks 9 & 10
June 4, 2023
Welcome to weeks 9 and 10 of my blog! I can’t believe it’s almost over! These past two weeks I have been focusing my work load on Hydrogen. You might be wondering what’s so special about Hydrogen, and let me tell you, it could be the future of sustainability!
Hydrogen holds great promises as a key component in solving the climate crisis due to its versatile uses and clean energy potential. One of the primary uses of Hydrogen is as a fuel for zero-emission vehicles. Hydrogen-powered vehicles emit only water vapor and heat, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution. These developments are otherwise known as fuel cells which can be used in cars and houses. Fuel cells essentially work like batteries, however they neither run down nor need recharging. Simply put, fuel cells generate electricity using Hydrogen and other renewable resources to supply power for any vehicle whether on land or water. Hydrogen plays a vital role in making this technology sustainable. So how do we isolate the Hydrogen? Well, green Hydrogen is Hydrogen produced from splitting water by electrolysis, this produces only Hydrogen and oxygen. The Hydrogen is then transported to be used in fuel cells or to power buildings as mentioned, and the Oxygen can be vented into the atmosphere without any negative impacts.
I have also begun constructing my final presentation which is coming along smoothly. I plan to have this done by the end of next week.
