Week 10: Research Paper And Final Presentation
June 6, 2023
Hello everyone, and welcome back to my blog!
This week has been filled with exciting progress as I wrap up my research and prepare for my upcoming presentation. I decided to follow the same format that I used for my defense presentation, which proved to be effective. The presentation will be divided into four main parts, each focusing on essential aspects of my research. First, I will introduce the research question, providing the necessary background information to set the context. Next, I will go into the methodology and analysis that I used during the study. Then, I will present the results received and draw meaningful conclusions based on the findings. Finally, I will conclude the presentation, by summarizing the key takeaways.
In addition to working on my presentation, I have also begun outlining my research paper. Given the diverse topics on depressive disorders that I explored, I decided to structure the paper into four distinct sections: environmental risk factors, biological impact and mechanisms, epigenetics, and treatment. Each section will explore a specific aspect of the topic.
When I arrived at BASIS this Wednesday, I had the opportunity to interview Ms. Reilly, our school counselor. Our conversation broke down the various factors that contribute to mental health, not only the social environment but also the physical surroundings we find ourselves in. Ms. Reilly shared insights into how schools situated closer to pollution or in city centers can subject individuals to increased stress and negative impacts. Additionally, she gave me the contact information of some other school counselors across the BASIS network, and I can’t wait to reach out to them and hear their opinions.
Thank you for reading! See you next week!
