Welcome to the Home of the Bears!
The BASIS Independent Brooklyn Bears athletic teams are comprised of student-athletes with varying skills and abilities. With guidance from our talented coaches, all student-athletes work towards a common goal of learning the value of teamwork, sportsmanship, and dedication. Our approach to athletics promotes healthy competition and empowers students with the discipline, grit, and persistence to become leaders on and off the court, field, track, or pool! It is the mastery of these skills that have led many of our student-athletes to victory in a variety of competitions, large and small. We are as proud of our students as athletes as we are of them as scholars. Go Bears!
Sports & Athletics Highlights
Our league athletics teams compete in the CPSAL (Charter Public School Athletic League) against schools in Brooklyn and Manhattan. In league sports, we emphasize competing at a high level and prioritize sportsmanship and teamwork. Our non-competitive athletics are focused on participation and skill building. Some athletics that are non-competitive now may eventually grow to be league sports in future years depending on participation and availability.
