Before leaving for Thanksgiving, our high school s Before leaving for Thanksgiving, our high school students participated in Day of Service, where they had the opportunity to engage with local nonprofits: the Seattle Humane Society, Bellevue Botanical Garden, The Vera Project, and Jubilee REACH. At each site, students learned about the mission and community impact of each organization, explored potential career pathways, and supported day-to-day operations through hands-on service.

Additionally, high schoolers contributed service to the hyperlocal community by assisting with elementary classroom activities, participating in campus clean-up efforts, and helping restore the park and trail system across the street. Their work strengthened both our school environment and the surrounding neighborhood.

They also partnered with our youngest learners to create over 100 handmade cards for Cards for Hospitalized Kids, a nonprofit whose mission is to spread hope, joy, and encouragement to children in hospitals across the country through uplifting, personally crafted cards.

To close the day, our high school students played teambuilding and leadership games where they got to learn a little bit more about each other and themselves.

Overall, Day of Service provided meaningful opportunities for students to learn, serve, and connect, both within the wider community and right here at home. We are so grateful for the partnership of the nonprofits, the staff members who provided service opportunities and supervision, and the support of our families. We are proud of our students for the positive impact they have made, and we look forward to making Day of Service an annual event!
