Week 9: Long Story Short

Long Story Short
Hi! This week, I’ve mainly been working on putting together a draft of my final senior project presentation, which I presented in front of other students at school yesterday. You may have noticed this blog was published a couple of days later than usual–that’s because I was waiting on yesterday’s mock presentation so I could discuss the feedback I received in this post. But before I do so, I’d like to share a few snapshots of my final presentation as a testament to the several hours of effort that went into condensing the long story of my 2-months-long work on this project into a short 15-minute presentation.
Thankfully, none of the feedback that I received will require me to make major changes to my presentation! After reviewing the suggestions, here’s a list of what I’ll be working on in the next week:
– Reducing the amount of text on my slides wherever possible/necessary
– Facing the audience more when presenting instead of always standing at the podium
– Changing the background of code pictures on my slides to white instead of black to make them more readable; editing other slides/pictures to enhance visibility
– Talking a bit slower (taking a bit of time to breathe in between slides) and making sure to make eye contact with members of the audience periodically as I present
– Briefly discussing my future plans for this project before concluding
That’s all for this week! Next week, I’ll be working on implementing these changes and spending some time practicing my presentation (since a couple of the suggestions I received were improvements regarding my delivery of the slides). See you then :))
