Our Bobcats are in South Africa! As part of the In Our Bobcats are in South Africa! As part of the International Term Project, students led by Mr. Meyerowitz and Madame Pilot traveled from Johannesburg to Kruger National Park, learning about the region’s human and natural history along the way. They stopped at Misty Mountain for a toboggan ride and visited Graskop Gorge, where some ziplined while others explored the forest floor.

They also visited the UNESCO World Heritage site, the Cradle of Humankind, where they learned about early human ancestors, experienced a cave simulation, and went spelunking to see where the first australopithecine fossils were discovered, gaining insight into paleoanthropology and South Africa’s fossil-rich cave systems.

Their first safari began at sunrise. In open jeeps, students observed lions, elephants, hippos, giraffes, crocodiles, and more, while also examining how Western media portrays these animals compared to their real behaviors and environments.

It’s been an incredible trip so far—we can’t wait to see more from their journey!

The Green Thumb Society Term Project at the Lower The Green Thumb Society Term Project at the Lower School campus gave our Bobcats a hands-on introduction to plant care! Students explored a variety of succulents, learned about the right types of soil, and discovered how to properly water their plants. We hope this experience sparked a budding passion for gardening and inspires them to join the Gardening Club when enrichment programs begin next school year. Fantastic work, young gardeners!

The Grade 8 New Orleans trip was a meaningful blen The Grade 8 New Orleans trip was a meaningful blend of service and exploration. Students worked hard volunteering with Green Light New Orleans, Hotel Hope, Second Harvest Food Bank, and Common Ground Relief. They also experienced the city’s vibrant culture through a historical tour of the French Quarter, a ghost tour, an airboat ride through the Bayou, and a cruise on the steamboat Natchez. It was a week that challenged hearts, sparked curiosity, and reminded our students of the power of giving back.
