Week 9: Setback
May 6, 2023
Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog.
Introduction:
This week, I attempted to fix the problem of the vocal cords. To accomplish this, I enlarged the vocal cord sockets from 3m to 3.3m. In theory, this would give enough space for the silicone vocal cords to go fully into the socket.
Disastrous Print
As shown above, one-half of the print became bent. I think this was due to the water being used to dissolve the PVA being too hot. When the PVA contracted, it turned the PLA more flexible, and it contorted into the shape above. Next time I print, which will likely be in two weeks due to vacation and APs, I’ll use a temperature that’s slightly colder to prevent this.
Future Models:
In addition to fixing the larynx, I will also try to research some of the tools used with the laryngoscope. That way, I can have a more complete model of the procedure.
Thank you all for reading!
Until next time,
Derrick Liu
