A School for Fearless Thinkers.
Welcome to a community of passionate learners in Manhattan.
At BASIS Independent Manhattan, a PreK through Grade 12 private school, expert teachers infuse learning with delight and discovery in our classrooms every day, and students see that embracing challenges with confidence is where growth begins. In an open, unpretentious environment where intellectual curiosity is encouraged, students explore new ideas and discover they are capable of more than they can imagine.
Growing from Curiosity to Fluency.
Our dedicated teachers inspire students with the support, encouragement, and tools they need to grow. At every stage, students build confidence and essential skills—making each new challenge an opportunity rather than an obstacle. Guided by an intentional balance of challenge and support, they cultivate a love of learning, diligence, and intellectual curiosity.
A Richness Beyond the Classroom.
We promote personal growth and character across every aspect of school life—from academics and athletics to music, fine arts, debate, science and math clubs, and more. These experiences encourage students to explore new interests while building confidence, teamwork, resilience, and leadership. By taking ownership of their passions, students discover new strengths and develop the curiosity and character that will serve them throughout life.
Our Community,
In Our Own Words
“My son says the school changed his life. It’s the happiest group of kids. The teachers are awesome. Their approach comes from a space of joy and making learning fun. It makes a passion for learning something kids actually desire versus something they have to do. My husband and I say this was the best thing we’ve done as parents.”
“I really love the thought behind the spiral curriculum: Kids start off slowly and build over their whole school experience—so they get better, thorough knowledge and understanding in the subjects. Everybody, the administrators and the teachers, make it fun and motivating because kids really feel good when they master something they can tell is difficult.”
“Fearless equals freedom. It’s being able to question what you’re told—to debate, to have a conversation with someone who disagrees with you, and back it up. That’s a really important skill, and it’s fostered in the classrooms.”
“We may be known for academic excellence. What surprises people is the warmth that hits you from the front door. It’s deeply human.”
