Ms. Hent
Associate Director of Admissions, Lower School
Ms. Hent received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Williams College before earning a Master of Arts with Distinction in English Literature from King’s College London, where her research focused on modern and postmodern literature from 1850 to the Present.
Ms. Hent started her career in education as an SAT instructor for Kaplan before becoming an Upper School English teacher at The Kew-Forest School in Queens, where she was also born and raised. For more than a decade, she has worked in independent schools across New York City as a teacher, testing coordinator, and college counselor, thoughtfully guiding students and families through the admissions and academic planning process.
Ms. Hent joined BASIS Independent Manhattan because of the school’s welcoming community and its focus on developing curious and fearless students. Her goal is to introduce more families across New York City to a school that empowers students to be as self-confident and globally minded as the city itself.
Outside of work, Ms. Hent enjoys baking, cross-stitching, and spending time with her two giant, floofy Siberian cats, Bernie and Greg.
