Mandarin

Early Learning, Primary Program

Ms. Ji was born and raised in Suzhou, China, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language from Soochow University, China. She also earned a Master of Education degree from George Mason University (Fairfax, VA). Ms. Ji spent eight years teaching at PreK-12 independent schools in Florida. In 2017, Ms. Ji was awarded Florida Foreign Language Association’s Most Valuable Mandarin Teacher. Ms. Ji believes that piquing a student’s interest in Chinese is one of the most effective ways to teach the language, and instruction should be designed to meet the needs of each student to ensure their success. On why she was drawn to BASIS Independent Manhattan, Ms Ji says, “The teaching approach with advanced, immersive coursework from PreK through high school is simply the way I was taught as a child growing up in China.” Ms. Ji is an avid traveler, a movie buff, and she enjoys baking in her free time.‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‌
