Primary Program

Ms. Thompson earned a Master of Arts in Educational Studies from the University of Michigan and graduated from SUNY Purchase with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dramatic Writing (the study of playwriting and screenwriting). She holds a teaching certificate from the state of Michigan, with endorsements in English as a Second Language and Language Arts. For the past three years, Ms. Thompson has been a Humanities Subject Expert Teacher (Gr. 2) at BASIS Scottsdale, a charter school in Arizona. She specifically chose BASIS Independent Manhattan “due to its innovative curriculum, as well as its focus on a well-rounded academic and social-emotional education.” In addition, Ms. Thompson worked as an AmeriCorps reading tutor in Austin, Texas, where she completed over 3,000 hours of community service. She attributes this experience to her discovering a love of teaching students at the primary school level. When she is not teaching, Ms. Thompson enjoys reading, creative writing, and watching movies.‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‌
