Week 8: New Week, New Work, New Style
April 30, 2024
Hey all, and welcome back to the final buzzing stretch of my 2024 Senior Project!
I want to try a shorter and sweeter style this week, and so without further ado…
A few notable updates:
- Since the final presentation for Senior Projects at BASIS Fremont is in about 2 weeks, I have decided to hold off on pushing this app to device app stores, and just refine the local prototype simulation on my computer for the presentation.
- This week, and in the coming two weeks, my work will be split between two primary tasks: working on the physical form of the app and preparing my final presentation and report for this project. Of course, as mentioned before, development will continue throughout the summer, since kids aren’t expected to use the app during summer break.
- I realized a few features, for example the hotline calling feature, cannot actually be implemented on a simulation, since the simulated phone in my computer has no ‘sim card’ to actually place the call. These features will stay in ‘test mode’ (they won’t work)
- I am still troubleshooting the MySQL problem mentioned in last week’s blog, and while it isn’t essential to how the app functions, it is essential to the deployment of the app.
- I think ‘The Hive’ is a solid name for this app, and I am 78.5% decided on it.
I would ask for feedback on this format in the comments down below, but no one seems to be using my comment section. 🙁 (please leave some comments)
See you next week!
