Week 9
May 2, 2025
Hi folks, welcome back, it’s time for week 9!
This week was the last week I taught my language at the lower campus. I’ve gotten to know the kids, they’re all super nice, as well as the dean! I couldn’t express with words how grateful I was for the opportunity.
Anyway, this week, it was time to test how well they’ve learned it, in basically one class I repeated over 3 weeks (fresh faces kept showing up). I handed out pieces of paper, and had them translate the language into english, and english into the language.
Here’s an example:
Anyway, now I’m in the process of analyzing these papers, for my efficiency in teaching as well as how well the language worked. I had them not correct their mistakes.
From what I’ve noticed so far, the kids weren’t quite grasping the idea of vocabulary as I’d hoped, as I’d hoped for them to completely copy the drawings I’d made. For example, for several words that use a human shape, it would be replaced with a stickman. It might be that this vocabulary is too skill-based, and by the end of these sessions, I’ve begun to accept stick figures as long as it gets the meaning across.
Alright, that’s it folks, see you next week.
