I Feel Like A Mother

Hello and welcome back to another blog post! 

This week was my idea dump week, where I simply got out all my ideas for my character. It was so strange creating a character. In many ways I felt like I was birthing this fully grown woman. I had so many ideas for how I did and didn’t want her to be. In this blog post, I wanted to show what it looks like to create an idea dump.  

First, I created a list of questions I needed to answer with my character, which helps in understanding her.   

After that, I answered each of those questions, trying to probe her psyche and make her as 3D as I could. Answering these questions also helps inspire new things I didn’t even think of. It makes it easy to see what she would do in certain situations and it helps me get inside her mind. Without further ado, as my advisor Amy calls it, here is my puke draft.     

Next week, I will be refining my character and writing some of her journal entries.
