Week 10: Face the Void, Save the... Wait, What?

Progress This Week
This week was mainly a battle system and writing week. To start off, here’s a short video demo of what the battle system looks like right now!
As you can see, the battle system is pretty similar to our pre-existing dialogue system. I took the dialogue system and made a few changes, such as changing the choices setup within the code and implementing a turn counter, but other than that it’s mostly the same. The choices panel UI is also different, as you can see in the video. Also, this battle encounter was written for testing purposes, and is acting as a placeholder for the actual battle text that will be present in the final game.
Other than the battle system, I did some more writing. I mainly worked on planning out which items would be interactable for unlocking journals, and writing out journals themselves. I’ll keep working on that, and hopefully we can put actual dialogue on the game soon!
Up Next Week
More dialogue writing, definitely. Also probably a few more battle UI updates. I’ll most likely be adding a journal open function for the battle screen, and might also work on creating an item list for the battle as well. I will also work on adding a line on dialogue boxes that indicate the speaker.
