AP Research Week 11: Analysis Between The Correlation Of Diet To Prevalence Of Myopia
June 11, 2023
Hello everyone!
This is the final week of correcting my previous analysis in week 4 + 5, in which I will be talking about the correlation of diet to the prevalence of myopia. Next week will most likely be the final week, and will be wrapping everything off with some future areas for research.
The last major component that can influence a person’s eyesight is diet. In opposition to the results found in Katz & Lambert., 2011 and Lim et al., 2010, the results of this paper once again found a weak correlation (correlation coefficient: 0.2075), and no statistically significant relationship between diet and myopia (p > 0.05). One potential explanation for this lack of correlation could be due to how diet was quantified within this study. There are multitudes of factors that go into a person’s diet and each of those components may affect eyesight differently. Due to the survey not providing a concrete method for quantifying the healthiness of each participant’s diet, the results of this section could have been skewed, which in turn disproves the hypothesis of this study.
That is all for the analysis. Next week is the final week! Stay tuned!
