Week 4: Outline And Preparations
April 1, 2023
Hey all, Robert Aubrey Webb here.
As I near the halfway point of the senior project, I’ve begun to take measures to ensure that I’m able to transition from the planning phase to the writing phase. I’ve read a handful of research papers and collected more information about MVAs and the various disorders that can arise from them, and my goal is to have a complete, detailed outline by the end of Week 5. Once that’s done, I’ll be on a good pace to have plenty to talk about in my final presentation.
Research isn’t the only thing that’s been going well. The internship has continued to go smoothly, as I’ve finally settled into my role as “mock patient” and general helper at the facility. From virtual research to painting the fences, I’ve done a handful of different jobs for my advisor, and I’m surprised at how engaging it all is. The “mock patient” experience has been especially enlightening, as you may have picked up from my week 3 post, but things have continued going swimmingly. Acting as a mock patient and talking with a therapist has given me plenty of insights as to potential hypotheses I could make regarding post-MVA treatment. I haven’t settled on anything specific yet, but I’ll let you know once I’ve got a working hypothesis to go off of. In the meantime, I’ll be continuing my research for the rest of my project.
See you next week.
