Week 1: An Intro To Digital Media Marketing!
Marketing is a key factor in making potential customers aware of products a business is selling and is used by basically every successful company. There are many different forms of marketing, many more secretive than you would realize. For instance, there are basic print or television advertisements, or even common slogans associated with brands, like Nike’s “Just Do It” or “Taste The Rainbow” by Skittles. Or, some brands partner up with celebrities or influencers to promote their businesses, like Serena Williams and Nike or Charli D’amelio with Dunkin Donuts. In addition to these strategies, one form of marketing that has been growing in popularity due to its wide audience range and the effective cost is digital media marketing.
Digital Media Marketing, the topic I plan to explore through my senior project, is using online or digital channels to market products and services to reach consumers. This can include multiple strategies, including email marketing or search engine optimization. However, one of the most significant methods of digital media marketing is creating a website. An informative website that is easy to navigate is essential as it is a place where customers can learn more about the product and why they may potentially need it. Identity Science is an early-stage startup company and I will be working with Raj Malampati to create a website and pitch digital media marketing tactics for his company when it eventually launches. The purpose of what I will be doing these next few weeks is to work with Identity Science to increase its business and visibility entirely through digital marketing channels while trying to be cost-effective.
This week was the first week of my internship working with Mr. Malampati, so I am still getting used to my roles and assignments. The first step he has given me is to research other mid-sized companies focused on developer security and cloud security. Mr. Malampati’s instructions were to first identify companies whose marketing strategies I want to compare against Identity Science’s. Some companies he recommended I spend time researching this week include Cycode, Veza, Tromzo, Authomize, Arnica, Legit Security, and Endor. My goal is to especially notice what is compelling about the websites of each of these companies and come up with recommendations for him regarding what our company website should look like. By next week, I hope to study the digital media marketing strategies of these companies and pinpoint the best aspects of each of their digital media marketing strategies. In addition to this, I want to create a chart to compare and contrast each of the company’s websites as well as start drafting a report researching unique forms of marketing that Mr. Malampati can use for his company.
