This will be my final blog post. I’ve added a recording of my presentation as well as a copy of my slides below as well.

Reflection:

I am very pleased about the outcome of this project. The drone’s design and assembly was successful, the thermal and RunCam streams worked well, and the laptop interfaced with Avenza and Mission Planner. I’m glad I did this project as I’ve learned a lot over the past 12 weeks. I’ve learned custom drone assembly, soldering, electronics and power system design, multimeter verification procedures, and iterative analysis through flight log debugging. I overcame the fear of irreversible failure, by gaining confidence to modify preassembled electronics to make them suit my build. And I learned about prescribed fire and its ecological importance.

I’m grateful to Ms. Bhattacharya for providing both technical and non-technical guidance to ensure the project ran smoothly, and for helping us make good pace on our work.

I’m also grateful to Mr. Jacks for his knowledge and expertise in prescribed fire, as well as providing me the opportunity to not only visit an expert panel on the subject, but also experience one myself.

I’m grateful to my parents, who not only helped me finance this project, but were also there for me when I needed help, be it strapping on batteries, driving me to the park for testing, or just discussing my results. 

And finally, I’m grateful to you, the readers of my blog. No matter how many weeks you’ve been following along, you’ve also been a part of this journey, and I thank you for it. Blogging as a method of communication seems to be pretty useful, not only in communicating my work, but also keeping track of my steps and my progress. For future projects, I might consider blogging about it, and seeing how that goes.
