- Project Title: Drone Lookout: Thermal Perimeter Surveillance Drone for Prescribed Burns
- BASIS Independent Advisor: Bhattacharya
- Internship Location: Terra Fuego Resource Foundation
- Onsite Mentor: Bill Jacks, Executive Director, Terra Fuego Resource Foundation
My project seeks to answer the question “Is it possible to develop a low-cost hexacopter with thermal vision and perimeter surveillance capabilities for applications in prescribed burning.” I believe this is possible, and the direction of my project will be building and experimenting with a self-assembled hexacopter platform. My final product should be a UAV prototype. It will reflect my effort in testing whether my research question can be answered. If I successfully build the UAV or see a clear path for others to follow, I will have a positive response to my research question. If I can't do this, I will provide a negative response to my research question.
