Excellence in education since 1998
The BASIS Curriculum, established in 1998, was built by two educational visionaries who sought to provide an educational experience in the United States previously only found in the top performing education systems in the world such as Singapore, Finland, or Korea.
Our first two BASIS Independent campuses in Brooklyn, NY and San Jose, CA opened in 2014, and used the well-established BASIS Curriculum to propel their students forward in academic outcomes. Today, BASIS Independent Schools are looked to as the gold standard in preparing students with the content knowledge, critical thinking, and creative problem solving skills needed to be successful in an increasingly complex world. Since their inception, BASIS Curriculum Schools have been named consistently as the top academic program in the country.
A Brief History
Co-founder Dr. Michael Block discovered that students in his university classroom who were educated abroad were more prepared to excel in their studies, and when his wife, Olga Block couldn’t find a high school program in the U.S. for her daughter that matched the content depth of her own education from Eastern Europe. Today, our schools are looked to as the gold standard in preparing students with the content knowledge, critical thinking, and creative problem solving skills needed to be successful in an increasingly complex world.
