BASIS Independent Silicon Valley’s Class of 2024 College Acceptances

May 7, 2024 by ezekielbracamonte Leave a Comment

The Class of 2024 at BASIS Independent Silicon Valley is an exceptional group of students with a diverse range of talents and interests. These students have consistently demonstrated a passion for learning and a strong work ethic, both inside and outside the classroom. By completing our rigorous curriculum that emphasizes critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity, our students have developed a strong foundation of knowledge and skills that will serve them well as they pursue their post-secondary goals.

When speaking to our Head of School, Ms. Kolb, she emphasized that the college acceptances this year are a clear reflection of the students’ dedication to their studies and readiness to take on the next chapter of their lives. “It’s clear that the students’ efforts have paid off, and they’re now reaping the rewards of their perseverance and commitment to their education,” said Kolb. “As they prepare to graduate and move forward, their achievements serve as a source of pride for both themselves and the entire BISV community.”

College acceptances mark a significant achievement for our students and their families, underscored by the pivotal role our college counselors play in the journey. While getting into a top-ranked college is often seen as the ultimate goal, our counselors focus on helping students find a college that’s the best fit for them academically, personally, and professionally. This entails a deep dive into understanding each student’s passions, strengths, and circumstances, including financial and geographic considerations. By prioritizing this tailored approach, our counselors empower our graduating Bobcats to discover a college environment where they can excel academically, personally, and socially, paving the way for their future success beyond college.

Ms. McCollum, one of our college counselors, exuded pride as she spoke about the graduating class, expressing, “The Class of 2024 comprises hard-working and collaborative students, and I couldn’t be prouder of each and every one of them. I have no doubt that this group of students will go on to positively influence the world, all while enjoying the journey. Congratulations, Seniors, you truly deserve all the good that awaits you!”

The dedication, resilience, and achievements have been nothing short of inspiring from the Class of 2024, and we have full confidence that they will continue to thrive in all their academic and personal endeavors. As they start on their exciting journey beyond our campus, we extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to each and every member of the graduating class. Below, you’ll find the comprehensive list of college acceptances for this remarkable group of Bobcats. Congratulations, Class of 2024! BASIS Independent Brooklyn’s Class of 2024 College Acceptances

April 26, 2024 by jogoldfarb Leave a Comment

We are very excited to share news of college acceptances of BASIS Independent Brooklyn’s Class of 2024! Our seniors have many fantastic options, and now they will spend time deciding among the top schools in the country. Students took time to research and fully explore programs and universities offering resources that will build on their interests nurtured in high school – both in classes and activities outside of school – for years to come.

“Members of our Class of 2024 have grown tremendously as individuals through the years on our campus,” commented Head of School Josh Harmon. “Having taught many of them in fifth grade, I can say firsthand that they are a group of students who have always shown promise as learners and sincerely cared for one another. I am proud to see them move on and begin to shape the future. It is also an honor to now see their hard work, passion for learning, and many different commitments beyond the classroom recognized in outstanding options for university.”

“Many of the students in this year’s class have been with our school since its founding,” said College Counselor Matt Brauch. “In our high school program, all these students actively leaned into coursework, clubs, and extracurricular activities to identify and then explore their interests. They aggressively chased after these interests inside and outside of school starting with course selection (choosing where available to pursue their interests on our campus) and through utilizing resources we created and updated throughout their tenure here to explore their interests off campus.”

We are proud to share the university and college acceptances received by our 27 students who applied to colleges this year – 25 seniors and two Class of ’23 alums, who applied to schools during a gap year with the help of our College Counselor.

We are incredibly proud of our Class of 2024. Here are some highlights:

  • 6/27 students (22%) were offered seats at top-10 ranked universities.
  • 59% were offered spots at colleges in the top 25-ranked national and international institutions, including the University of Pennsylvania, Duke, Northwestern, Cornell, Johns Hopkins, University of Michigan, University of California Berkeley, Barnard, Emory, Georgetown, Hamilton, and Colgate. Three students in the senior class this year received offers of admission from the University of Pennsylvania.
  • 74% gained acceptance to schools ranked in the top 50. If McGill is counted given its rank as #54 in “Best Global Universities,” then that number rises to 78%.
  • 96% gained acceptance to schools ranked in the top 75. One student applied to Cooper Union early decision, and the school is ranked #2 regionally and very high for engineering. However, it is ranked #107 nationally via Forbes.
  • Students continue to look beyond the U.S. and consider offers of admission from international institutions, including the London School of Economics and Political Science, University College London, King’s College London, University of Toronto, McGill University, and University of St. Andrews.

“While I am thrilled that all our students have fantastic college options,” shared Mr. Brauch. “I am most proud of them for applying to schools that fit what they want out of a college environment and experience. Through our many conversations and their actions, each of our seniors chose the path that fit them best at and outside of our school. They became true drivers in this process. That has served them well at our school and will help them tremendously as they take their next steps towards college and beyond.”

The Class of 2023 represents 174 graduates who applied to a wide range of colleges and universities across the U.S. and around the world. BASIS Independent Silicon Valley’s Class of 2023 College Acceptances

May 9, 2023 by msnyder

The Class of 2023 at BASIS Independent Silicon Valley is an exceptional group of students with a diverse range of talents and interests.

When speaking to our Head of School Ms. Kolb, she reflected on this year’s senior class by saying, “We know how hard our students work throughout their time here at BISV. This year’s college acceptances are just another example of their mastery of our curriculum, their readiness to move on to the next stage of life, and the reward of all their hard work.”

College acceptances are an important milestone for our students and their families, and our college counselors play a critical role in the process. While getting into a top-ranked college is often seen as the ultimate goal, our college counselors focus on helping students find a college that is the best fit for their academic, personal, and professional goals. This involves working closely with students to understand their interests, strengths, and preferences, as well as their financial and geographical constraints. By prioritizing student fit, our college counselors help our graduating Bobcats find a college where they can thrive academically, personally, and socially, setting them up for success in their college years and beyond.

Ms. Batrachenko, one of our college counselors, recently expressed her admiration for the Class of 2023. According to her, this year’s graduating class brought a “mosaic of personalities and self-expression styles” to the college application process, which made it an exciting journey to be a part of. Despite any challenges our students faced, they approached the application process with dedication and commitment, and as a result, achieved impressive college acceptances.

We are confident that the Class of 2023 will continue to excel in their academic and personal pursuits, and wish them the very best as they embark on this exciting journey. Below is the full list of College Acceptances for this year’s graduating class. Congratulations, Bobcats!

BASIS Independent Silicon Valley is a TK – Grade 12 private school, providing students with an internationally benchmarked liberal arts and sciences curriculum, with advanced STEM offerings. Considering joining the Bobcat community?
